A narrow strip with water on both sides
Budgewoi sits at the northern end of our patch, on the land between Budgewoi Lake and the ocean, with the peninsula running north along the coast towards Lake Munmorah. For a roof, that is about as exposed a position as you can hold without being on a headland — salt coming off open water on one side and off brackish lake on the other.
The lake side is the half people discount. Calm marine water is treated as its own exposure category in steel selection guidance, with its own thresholds, because sheltered humid conditions let salt sit on metal rather than being washed off. Both halves of Budgewoi are a corrosion address.
